The Basics of Pediatric Dentistry

Posted .

A pediatric dentist differs from other dentists in that he has been through additional years of training specifically for his specialized field. While dentists of every stripe complete years of dental school, the pediatric dentist gains specialized experience and advanced knowledge in treating infants and children. Our dental practice and staff members are geared toward young visitors and we work hard to create a friendly and comfortable environment for kids.

You may be asking yourself how early should you make an appointment for your child? The recommended best time to bring your baby in to see the dentist for the first time is within 6 months of getting their first tooth or by one year of age, whichever comes first. The initial visit is relatively simple and brief. We will spend time getting to know your child and relaying basic information about pediatric dental care. The dentist will examine your baby’s teeth for proper placement and oral health, and make sure there are no issues with the development of the gums or jaw.

If your child needs to start seeing a pediatric dentist, Dr. Ed Perdue would love to see you and your children. You can contact our office in Nashville, Tennessee, by calling phone to make an appointment.
